A.S. Rind is a Karachi-based artist celebrated for his distinctive contribution to contemporary Pakistani art.
A graduate of the Central Institute of Art and Craft (Karachi Arts Council) in 1988, he was honored with the President’s Medal of Excellence (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz) in 2024 for his outstanding achievements in the field of art. Working primarily in acrylics, oil, and charcoal, Rind’s artistic journey began in 1986 and spans nearly four decades of creativity, featuring 28 solo exhibitions and over 140 group shows both in Pakistan and internationally — including Dubai, Bahrain, Singapore, England, Canada, America, India, and Bangladesh.
Rind’s art revolves around memory, heritage, and culture, often expressed through female forms that embody strength, grace, and tradition. His signature style is characterized by intricate detailing, vibrant colors, and traditional South Asian motifs, creating a harmonious blend of modernity and heritage. Throughout his career, Rind has explored diverse techniques and movements — from realism and impressionism to cubism and calligraphic abstraction. In 2002, he began experimenting with calligraphic paintings, developing his own typographic style that merged text and visual symbolism.
His notable solo exhibitions have been held at prestigious venues such as the French Cultural Centre (1993), Tanzara Gallery (Islamabad), ArtCiti Gallery (Karachi), The Collector Galleria (Lahore), and Eye for Art (Houston, USA), among many others. His recent exhibitions in 2025 at Clifton Art Gallery and ArtCiti Gallery continue to affirm his enduring relevance and creative evolution.
A.S. Rind’s practice stands as a celebration of South Asian cultural identity, weaving stories of the subcontinent’s artistic and emotional depth through form, color, and symbolism — a true testament to his lifelong dedication to art and craftsmanship.
