

Zoya Abbas is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher currently based in Karachi, Pakistan. She has an MPhil
in Art and Design from Indus Valley School for Art and Architecture in Karachi, completed in 2025, and an
undergraduate degree in communication design from The National College of Arts in Lahore, completed in
2010. She has earned online certifications and courses at (Museum of Modern Art, Stanford University,
University of California, Santa Cruz, in modern and contemporary art, abstract painting, photography, and
themes on gender and feminism. She has worked in advertising and digital media as a creative consultant and
taught O Level art and design. Her current research and studio practice look at feminist narratives that explore
loss, memory, and belonging. She has showcased her work and participated in the artists' residency and project
titled “Anti-colonial Maps for Lost Lovers” with GCAS Jehan and HIC-ROSA in 2022-2023. Her work has been
part of a group show called “Aik Kahani Sau Afsaanay” at the Anna Molka Ahmed Gallery in Lahore, curated by
Faraz Karachiwala in August 2023. Her work was represented at “Gravity” Art Fest Karachi (2025) and
symposium at the Sambara Art Gallery in Karachi, curated by Mahreen Zuberi. With a recent exhibition of “Anticolonial Maps for Lost Lovers” curated by Renata Summo-O'Connell at the American Arts Centre in
Casablanca, Morocco (2025). Her most recent group show was exhibited at the Artscene Gallery in Karachi,
curated by F.S. Karachiwala in February 2025.
