Fatima Ahmed

Fatima Ahmed (b. 2000) is a visual artist based in Lahore, Pakistan who graduated from the National College
of Arts with a BFA in Painting. She has showcased her work in the Pop-Up Art Show at Tagheer (2023), Focal
Point in Sharjah (2023), Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery (2024), Ejaz Gallery (2024), Lakir Gallery (2024), and
an upcoming group show with Pakistan Art Forum (2025). She also plays bass for the White Brick Jazz quintet
and RakuNavi.
Her work is an exploration of the relationship between the inner and outer versions of the self which she
considers to be a journey focused on self-reflection amidst themes of melancholia, an unsteady grip on reality,
and resisting a strict notion and distinction between subject and object. The backgrounds in her work, depicting
liminal dreamscapes, allow for the representations of the internal self to exist without the limitations of the
external self as well as the outward world.
My time at the residency with Muse Art Gallery has been a period of immense growth and progress. I was
allowed to explore my painting practice with full creative freedom which has led to me creating a body of work I
feel deeply connected to. The gallery and its staff have been wonderful facilitators and I will cherish the time I
have spent here amongst their company.
