ALEENA ZAFAR

As a calligraphy student, I have always been fascinated by the profound beauty and spiritual depth that lies within Islamic art. For my current body of work, I have chosen to delve into the 4 Qul. The 4 Qul, comprising four short chapters from the Quran, hold immense significance for Muslims around the world. The deep spiritual meaning behind each chapter has inspired me to explore the intricate details of calligraphy, using various traditional techniques and styles.
In my artistic process, I have carefully studied the graceful curves, the balance between thick and thin strokes, and the harmonious composition that characterizes Islamic calligraphy. I have worked in various scripts such as Naskh, Shikasta, Dewani, Muala, and Nastaleek. I have repeatedly written and overlapped the word “Qul”. The colors are chosen very carefully according to the meaning of each Surah. By applying these techniques in my paintings, I seek to create a visual representation that not only engages the eye but also touches the heart and soul of the viewer.
