A practicing visual artist, Sana Hussain graduated from NCA with BFA in Sculpture (2021). She tends to work with mixed mediums including but not limited to textile, thread, human hair, video art, text, photo journals and photography. Her interest lies in the tensions surrounding the human body.Through her works she often explores the themes of feminine beauty and body, and the presence of societal insecurity and anxiousness.Hussain tries to navigate through the idealized bodies present online and her perception of her own body. Her work reflects the vulnerability of the body and an intimate look towards the portrayal of the body in social context. Embroidering, stitching, and writing words come as a very therapeutic form of discipline for her. Reading about the female body with socio-political perspective helps her form a narrative within her works. Immigration, familial connection, body dysmorphia, and literary pieces all come under her inquiry as an artist and she keeps exploring these themes in different mediums. She has exhibited locally and internationally including at O art space (Lahore), Copeland gallery (London) and Ambiance Hotel (Karachi).
