An illustrator, Amara Sikander received a bachelor's degree from the University of the Punjab in Communication Design and later completed masters in graphic design, graduating with honors. Through her works, she portrays female figures in bold colors, the line work playing a significant role in the form of the figure. The figures are diverse and symbolize empowerment especially in Pakistani society where the identity of women faces constant suppression. Thus her work comments on social and cultural dynamics that influence women, the figures in her works reclaiming identity. Apart from being a visual artist, she works as a senior art director at Ogilvy Pakistan and has previously also worked as a visualizer.
